Have been to 2 ents, had a brain mri, had 5 audiology tests, took prednisone meds, and tried a hearing aid Like you, i believe tinnitus, and also for me, hyperacusis, began after an mri of my head and neck , without properly fitted hearing protection Was told to learn to live with it

The communications between your gut and brain has been noted to work on each others behalf If you have pain with any type of loud noise, you more than likely have hyperacusis Then it behooves you to protect your ears always with ear plugs & hearing aids that take this into consideration and walking away from anything that is too noisy. Have anybody who had stapedectomy experienced hyperacusis (super sensitivity to the sound ) and sound distortion for longer than 6 months

Here’s what i’ve read about hyperacusis but i don’t think there’s help out there for those of us who suffer from it “the tensor tympani is a muscle within the middle ear, located in the bony canal above the bony part of the auditory tube, and connects to the malleus bone. I had a custom set of noise reducing earplugs made that reduce sounds about 20 decibels and are waterproof so they prevent water from getting in my ears.
